Job summary

The Emergency Department nurse provides professional nursing care during the initial phase of acute illness or trauma for patients of all ages. The ED nurse triages and prioritizes care based on physical, psychological and social needs, stabilizes patients, initiates treatment, and coordinates discharge or transfer as appropriate.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited nursing program, Missouri RN license, BLS within 90 days, ACLS, PALS within one year, ENPC within 12 months, and

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
• RN license active in Missouri is required.

Responsibilities

• Triage and determine priority of care based on patient needs.
• Stabilize patients and initiate treatment promptly.
• Discharge the patient or arrange for longer hospital stay as needed.
• Work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking emergency department environment.
