Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a skilled Emergency Communications Dispatcher in Rockford, IL to handle emergency and non-emergency calls, coordinate dispatch with REACT and local agencies, and provide pre-arrival instructions.

The role monitors eight radio channels, two intercoms, multiple repeater sites, twenty phone lines, and Weather radio, ensuring ECC operates 24 hours a day; requires EMD certification within 9 months and hospital/prehospital dispatch experience.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience in hospital, pre-hospital or emergency dispatching preferred
• Licensed Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) within 9 months of hire

Responsibilities

• Takes scheduled and emergency requests for REACT and multiple departments, prioritizing calls.
• Monitors 8 radio channels, 2 intercoms, 6 remote repeater sites, 20 phone lines, and weather radio.
• Dispatches to appropriate agency in proper response configuration.
• Provides pre-arrival instructions per Medical Priority protocols.
• Ensures ECC is operational 24 hours a day and coordinates with hospital/EMS partners.
