Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking an Emergency Care Technician for the Emergency Department, nights (7p-7a), 36 hours per week. The ECT provides basic nursing care under the ED nurse in charge, handling data collection, vital signs, and patient assistance.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, BLS/CPR certification, and/or enrollment in a health sciences program. Prior CNA or related health care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Enrollment in a health science program or related clinical experience preferred (nursing fundamentals/classes and/or clinical rotation).
• Current BLS/CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Gathers patient data and records vital signs.
• Assists with basic nursing care and patient hygiene tasks.
• Supports ED team with patient transport, positioning and comfort.
• Performs or assists with routine clinical tasks as directed by the ED RN/physician.
