Job summary

The Swan Food Company, operating as CJ Schwan's, seeks an experienced maintenance technician to lead preventive maintenance and repair of conveyor systems and production machinery in a food manufacturing setting.

You will perform major repairs, fabrication, and installation with welding to food-safe standards, while training teams on best practices to minimize downtime and ensure safety. This full-time role offers growth in a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related experience in maintenance and repair
• High school diploma or GED; two-year degree in specialized maintenance trade preferred
• Experience with high-speed manufacturing equipment and welding
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs

Responsibilities

• Lead preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of conveyor systems and production machinery to ensure continuous, efficient plant operations.
• Execute major equipment repairs, fabrication, construction, and installation projects, including welding to food-safe standards and precise mechanical assembly.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues through detailed inspection, use of precision measuring tools, and interpretation of mechanical schematics.
• Fabricate and maintain critical plant components such as guards, doors, steps, shafts, sprockets, and mounting brackets using lathes, metal sheers, benders, and welding equipment.
• Provide training and guidance to production teams on maintenance best practices to reduce downtime and ensure compliance with safety and operational protocols.
