Job summary

Mount Carmel Reynoldsburg is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to provide patient care in a fast-paced ED. You will work three 12-hour night shifts per week (7pm–7:30am) with rotating weekends and holidays, following department policies and safety standards.

The role emphasizes responding to patient needs, phlebotomy and EKG, wound care, data collection, and reporting observations to RNs and physicians. Team-based care supports trauma, stroke, sepsis alerts, and resuscitation efforts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of approved basic patient care and EKG phlebotomy training; BLS required.
• Previous patient care experience and/or health-related education preferred.
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient needs in a timely manner.
• Transportation and patient escort.
• Perform visual acuity, eye irrigations and equipment setups.
• Perform phlebotomy and obtain lab specimens as ordered.
• Follow protocols and participate in trauma, stroke, heart and sepsis alerts, and resuscitation.
• Perform wound care and sterile technique when appropriate.
• Perform suture and staple removal, excluding facial region.
• Perform Foley care and collect specimens.
• Perform EKG.
• Collect and document patient data, e.g. vital signs, procedures performed.
• Report observations and condition changes to RN/physician promptly.
