Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to join the Norfolk General Hospital emergency team. The role is on-site in Norfolk, VA, with a full-time night shift (11:00 PM–11:00 AM) and duties including assisting physicians and nurses, performing patient procedures, and contributing to care plans.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, EMT-B or clinical program enrollment, and prior ED experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire; or 2. Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School; or 3. Current student enrolled in a clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy) having completed at least one semester.
• Prior Sentara ED tech experience within the past two years will be considered in lieu of the above criteria.

Responsibilities

• Assist Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in implementing plans of care for emergency/minor emergency patients.
• Perform patient procedures and treatments under supervision.
• Complete de-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire.
