Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Emergency Department is seeking a part-time Emergency Department Technician to join the on-site team in Norfolk, Virginia. The role supports physicians and nurses in implementing care plans for emergency and minor emergency patients.

The position requires EMT-B or equivalent, clinical experience, and active enrollment in a clinical program; de-escalation and physical intervention training are part of the onboarding.

Qualifications

• Clinical experience in a healthcare setting.
• EMT-B certification or equivalent at time of hire.
• Active enrollment in a clinical program (RN/LPN/Respiratory/ PT) with at least one semester.
• Candidates with prior Sentara ED tech experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians, advanced practitioners, or nurses in implementing plans of care for emergency patients.
• Perform patient procedures and treatments under supervision.
• Demonstrate de-escalation and physical intervention skills within 15 days of hire.
