Job summary

Monarch Healthcare in North Carolina seeks a Developmental Specialist to help people with mental illness, IDD, or substance use disorders achieve personal goals. You will build community connections, support daily living, rights advocacy, and coordinated care with staff and families.

Responsibilities include documenting progress, safety, and planning; driving as needed, and assisting with emergency procedures. A high school diploma and valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Valid driver’s license (USA).
• Experience with individuals who have a mental health diagnosis, an intellectual/developmental disability, or substance use disorder.

Responsibilities

• Assess people’s hopes and provide supports to help achieve goals.
• Support community engagement and development of relationships with natural supports.
• Assist in participating fully in the community according to the person’s interests.
• Ensure and promote the rights of the people served; assist with advocacy skills and work with personal advocates.
• Provide support for emotional, physical, and medical needs; document accordingly.
• Complete daily progress notes and maintain communication logs for appointments, goals, and interests.
• Assist with daily home operations (housekeeping, meals, laundry, shopping, etc.).
• Drive and travel as required; arrange transportation as needed.
• Support knowledge of emergency procedures and personal safety; conduct drills and inspections.
