Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin, Dell Medical School, seeks a Cardiovascular ICU Nocturnal Advanced Practice Provider to join the Institute for Cardiovascular Health. The APP/PA will care for adult cardiovascular and thoracic patients, primarily staffing the ICU and occasionally the telemetry ward.

Collaborate with physicians and a multidisciplinary team in outpatient and inpatient settings. Qualifications include TX PA license or TX RN-APRN with prescriptive authority, acute care

Qualifications

• Physician's Assistant credentialed from the Texas Medical Board or Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing.
• Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Authority specializing in Cardiac Critical Care.
• Credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing in Acute Care nursing.
• Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Operating Room based Physician Assistants will primarily work assisting in the cardiovascular operating room.
• Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination.
• Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies.
• Performs health assessments, screening, and patient care.
• Provides direct treatment and management of conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
• Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning health conditions, treatment options and community resources.
• Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.
• Participates in orientation and education of staff and students.
• Other related functions as assigned
