Job summary

The RN Staff Nurse at University of Michigan Health-West provides professional nursing care to a group of patients during a designated time frame, applying the nursing process and collaborating with the health care team to achieve optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, developing plans, implementing care, documenting progress, and educating patients and families while maintaining safety. Night shifts, 0.9 FTE, and weekend work are required.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred.
• RN licensure required (Michigan).
• BLS/CPR certification required.
• ACLS/PALS certifications strongly preferred where applicable; must be obtained as specified.
• Experience in specialty areas preferred.

Responsibilities

• ASSESSMENT—Assess patient condition and needs.
• PLANNING—Develop a care plan with diagnoses and goals.
• IMPLEMENTATION—Carry out nursing plan and orders.
• DOCUMENTATION—Record concise, accurate patient information.
• PATIENT EDUCATION—Educate patients and families.
• SAFETY/RISK MANAGEMENT—Follow safety standards and manage emergencies.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.

Michigan Registered Professional Nurse licensure required.

Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) provider—required.

ACLS certification within 60 days (Endoscopy RN).

ACLS certification within one year (Level 4/5 RN).

PALS provider preferred (Level 6).

ACLS certification within 30 days (IR/NEURO IR RN).

ACLS re-certification every 2 years.
