Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West seeks an RN for Intermediate Care Nursery on night shift (36 hrs/wk). The role includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, with emphasis on safety, education, and coordination in a fast-paced environment.

Required Michigan RN licensure and BLS; ACLS/PALS may be required or encouraged, with training provided where needed. Prior specialty experience is preferred and the incumbent may assist in coordinating care during nights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Michigan Registered Professional Nurse licensure required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) provider—required.
• Endoscopy RN: ACLS preferred; must obtain ACLS within 60 days of hire/placement.
• Level 4/Level 5 RN: ACLS preferred; must obtain ACLS within one year of hire/placement.
• Level 4/Level 5 RN: Competence in basic cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation (training provided).
• Level 6: PALS preferred.
• ED: PALS preferred; ACLS within 3 months after hire; recertification every 2 years.
• IR/NEURO IR RN: ACLS must be obtained within 30 days of hire/transfer.
• Previous specialty experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient's condition and discharge needs.
• Develop a plan of care using nursing diagnoses and outcomes.
• Implement nursing plan of care and physician orders.
• Establish priorities of care based on patient needs and resources.
• Perform nursing procedures and assist physicians.
• Evaluate patient responses and adjust care plans as needed.
• Educate patient and family based on cognitive needs and outcomes.
• Document information concisely and timely in the patient record.
• Respect patient rights and maintain confidentiality.
• Adhere to safety standards and manage emergencies efficiently.
• Maintain current knowledge base and standards of care.
• Demonstrate professionalism in scheduling and attendance.
• Pursue ongoing education and staff development.
• Participate in quality assurance, standards development, and research.
