Job summary

Perfetti Van Melle in Rockford, IL is seeking a Production Technician to operate packaging lines on a rotating AWS night shift and achieve continuous product flow. The role emphasizes equipment monitoring, quality checks, weight control, sanitation, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure.
• Ability to work overtime hours to meet customer demands.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem analysis skills.
• Ability to wear PPE (Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Uniform, Hairnet, Beard net, Mask).
• Occasionally exposed to dusty conditions; may wear breathing protection as required.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds; push/pull heavy carts.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor packaging equipment to maintain product flow from discharge of the extruder to palletize.
• Perform quality checks for metal, seals, code date, weight, and case counts/weights.
• Maintain correct product and case weights.
• Handle scrap and waste from machines as necessary.
• Troubleshoot equipment to ensure continuous operation.
• Enter data into the computer.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow GMP policies.
• Notify maintenance or supervisor when line requires attention.
• Other duties as assigned.
