Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Building Engineer in Boston to monitor, maintain, and repair building systems including heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical, and fire/life-safety equipment. You will support preventive maintenance, respond to emergencies, and help ensure operations meet client specifications.

You will work with a team to implement energy management practices, follow safety policies, and assist with inspections and compliance. Prior experience and a valid CFC may be preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4–5 years of job-related experience.
• Universal CFC certification is preferred.
• Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions.
• Prior shift management or supervisory experience preferred.
• Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong organizational skills and analytical mindset.
• Sophisticated math skills for percentages and financial calculations.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems.
• Comply with codes, regulations, and safety directives.
• Maintain an energy management program and ensure systems operate efficiently.
• Assist with preventive maintenance and emergency repairs as needed.
• Follow safety policies for storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Review building system inspections to ensure operations meet design specs.
• Apply standard principles to complex assignments and provide solutions.
• Coach others and share knowledge within the function.
