Job summary

Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC, seeks an Assistant Nurse Manager for the Medical Surgical Cardiology Unit (4 North). This night-shift leadership role partners with the Nurse Manager to ensure safe, patient-centered cardiac monitoring and care delivery.

The ANM will lead staffing, ensure regulatory compliance, coordinate interdisciplinary care, and support ongoing quality and discharge planning efforts within a telemetry-enabled Cardiology unit.

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in the District of Columbia.
• BSN preferred; must obtain BSN within three (3) years of assuming ANM position.
• National or hospital-specific certifications (e.g., CMSRN, PCCN) within one year of hire are encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite night shift leadership and oversight for 4 North operations.
• Align staffing to patient acuity, telemetry needs, and census fluctuations.
• Supervise, coach, and mentor nursing staff; assist with evaluations and improvement plans.
• Support recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of nursing staff.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and telemetry protocols.
• Promote evidence-based cardiac and medical-surgical nursing practices.
