Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC seeks an Assistant Nurse Manager — Critical Care to lead night operations in MICU and SICU, partnering with the Nurse Manager to ensure safe, patient-centered care for critically ill patients.

You'll oversee clinical operations, staffing, and staff development, mentor nursing teams, support recruitment, and drive evidence-based practice within a high-acuity environment. BSN preferred; DC RN licensure required with certification timelines.

Qualificações

• BSN preferred; candidates without a BSN must obtain one within three years of hire.
• Current, active RN licensure in the District of Columbia.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required.
• Minimum one year of supervisory or nursing leadership experience required.
• National specialty certification (e.g., CCRN) required within one year of hire.

Responsabilidades

• Provide onsite night shift leadership across MICU and SICU with safe staffing and continuity of care.
• Align staffing to patient acuity and census fluctuations in real time.
• Supervise, coach, and mentor nursing staff; participate in evaluations or corrective action.
• Support recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of critical care staff.
• Promote evidence-based critical care nursing practice and regulatory standards.
• Support quality initiatives focused on sepsis management, respiratory failure, infection prevention, and patient outcomes.
• Collaborate with intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, nephrology, and ancillary teams.
• Identify operational or clinical issues impacting safe care delivery and escalate as needed.
• In Nurse Manager’s absence, assume leadership accountability for unit operations.
