Job summary

Belmont Behavioral Health System is seeking PRN Admissions Counselors to facilitate admissions, clinical intake assessments and utilization review processes to assure continuity of care for patients. The role includes ensuring benefits are active at admission and coordinating with business offices and clinicians.

Shifts are overnight 7pm-7am with rotating Saturdays, requiring strong patient relations, teamwork with medical staff, and accurate documentation to support authorization and

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a social services field or RN preferred.
• One or more years’ experience in mental/behavioral health working with individuals in a clinical or observational capacity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to inquiries about the facility within facility policy timeframes.
• Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Perform benefit eligibility to ensure patient benefits are active at admission and communicate to the business office.
• Collaborate with facility medical and psychiatric personnel on referrals.
• Coordinate admission and transfer between referrals and levels of care.
• Complete pre-admission assessments and communicate disposition recommendations.
• Prepare and maintain medical record documentation for payor authorization.
• Admit patients in the registration system and complete forms with patient.
• Provide empathetic, professional customer service and address complaints.
• Coordinate care for non-admitted patients and arrange follow-up referrals.
• Maintain patient safety and supervise as required (15-minute checks).
