Job summary

The Village of Tinley Park is seeking a mature 911 Dispatcher for the Tinley Park 911 Dispatch Center. You will respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for Police, Fire and EMS, prioritizing threats and providing clear, calm instructions.

Responsibilities include operating CAD and LEADS/NCIC, monitoring radio traffic, and recording data. A high school diploma with dispatch experience is required; EMD/LEADS training will be provided as needed, with a night shift and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with 1–3 years of dispatch or related public service experience.
• Knowledge of public safety communications and emergency medical dispatch procedures.
• EMD Certification within 6 months of hire; LEADS access within 2 weeks of hire.
• Excellent verbal/written communication; ability to work under stress and maintain accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for Police, Fire, and EMS.
• Assess incidents quickly; prioritize and dispatch units per procedures.
• Provide EMD instructions over the phone when required.
• Monitor police, fire, and EMS radio traffic; relay information to responders.
• Operate CAD, LEADS/NCIC, and related data systems; document information accurately.
