Job summary

Crosslines Community Outreach is seeking a Shelter Monitor for evening through overnight hours to support the Safe to Sleep program. You will ensure shelter operations run smoothly and that guests are welcomed in a safe, structured environment.

You will collaborate with staff to document guest needs, manage inventory and policies, and assist volunteers while maintaining a compassionate, professional demeanor throughout a demanding night shift.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a valid Driver’s License and a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience with homeless populations preferred; must be able to work with high-risk individuals.
• Strong judgment, crisis management, and problem-solving skills are required.
• Must be dependable, able to multitask, prioritize, and work independently or as part of a team.
• Compassion and respectful collaboration with guests, volunteers, and coworkers are essential.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to document observations objectively.
• Basic computer proficiency is required: Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and time tracking software.
• Position is subject to random drug screenings.

Responsibilities

• Complete nightly guest intake and familiarize guests with shelter policies.
• Ensure that all guests comply with policies and complete required chores.
• Conduct accurate weekly inventory of supplies and food and submit to supervisor.
• Accurate and timely data entry for nightly attendance.
• Provide daily reports to program staff about guest and shelter needs or issues and actively engage in weekly team meetings.
• Relay guest questions/requests to Case Manager for follow-up.
• Monitor and maintain a safe environment at all times.
• Provide access to hygiene supplies.
