Job summary

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is seeking a Night Security Officer for the Security Command Center to help maintain a safe environment across the museum campus. You will monitor systems, respond to incidents, and coordinate with staff and responders during assigned shifts.

This full-time role requires independence, attention to detail, and strong communication skills. You will work a daytime? weekend schedule with hourly compensation and benefits aligned with museum standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Reading and writing proficiency in English.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Prior experience as a night watch/ security officer preferred.
• CPR and First Aid training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate security control equipment and monitor security systems across the museum campus.
• Monitor alarms, respond to incidents, and contact emergency services when necessary.
• Conduct routine building patrols to ensure the safety of people and property.
• Manage access through the Business Entrance and assist visitors and staff as needed.
• Escort employees to vehicles after dark when requested.
• Monitor HVAC and report facility-related concerns.
• Answer calls and coordinate with museum staff and emergency responders.
