Job summary

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art seeks a Guest Services Officer for the Security Command Center to monitor, respond to security concerns, and serve as a key contact during assigned shifts. This is a full-time position in Kansas City, MO with weekend and weekday hours.

Work includes monitoring, patrol, access control, and emergency response, with a focus on independence, vigilance, and professional communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Reading and writing proficiency in English is required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Prior experience as a night watch officer, security officer, or central station operator is preferred.
• CPR and First Aid training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate security control equipment and monitor security systems across the museum campus.
• Monitor alarms and respond to incidents; contact emergency services when necessary.
• Conduct routine patrols of the museum, including offices, galleries, and stairways.
• Monitor and control access through the Business Entrance and assist with visitor, contractor, and employee access.
• Escort employees to their vehicles after dark upon request.
• Monitor HVAC and report facility-related concerns as needed.
• Answer calls, route communications, and coordinate with staff and emergency responders.
