Job summary

Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking a PRN Rapid Response Nurse (RN) for the night shift, 7:00pm–7:30am, to ensure patient safety by escalating issues, following standard processes, and maintaining equipment. The role involves responding to RRT calls, informing families and staff, and stabilizing patients as needed.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of ICU/ER experience, a BSN or plans to complete it within 5 years, BLS and ACLS, and VA licensure.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience as a Critical Care (ICU) or Emergency Room RN.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; BSN required or should complete BSN within 5 years.
• BLS and ACLS required; CEN or CCRN within 6 months from start date.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in Virginia as a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Responds to RRT Code calls promptly and assesses patients' conditions.
• Maintains equipment (monitors, ventilators, infusions) and ensures crash carts are ready.
• Uses SBAR framework for communication; relays information to patients, families and staff.
• Documents vital signs, procedures, medications and patient response in medical records.
• Implements immediate stabilization measures and ensures safety of self and others.
• Provides training and education on emergency response within the organization.
