Job summary

The Newark Board of Education is seeking a Per Diem Painter (Night) to perform interior and exterior painting on buildings, using brushes, rollers, and spray guns. Work may involve scaffolding and ladders, with supervision from a Crew Supervisor within the Office of Facilities Management - Project Control.

Applicants should have at least three years of painting experience, be able to prepare surfaces and mix paints, and possess a NJ driver’s license if a vehicle is needed.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of interior and exterior building painting experience.
• Ability to prepare surfaces and mix paints to match colors.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license only if a vehicle is required for duties.
• Ability to read and follow verbal or written orders.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces using sandpaper, brushes, and cleaners.
• Apply paint and coatings with brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
• Erect scaffolding and work at various heights.
• Maintain and clean painting tools and equipment.
• Receive and execute work orders from supervision.
• Lead a team of inmates/residents when assigned.
