Job summary

ReNEW Schools is seeking a Painter to perform general interior and exterior painting within Hartford Public School System buildings, using spray equipment, brushes and rollers. The role also supports other building trades as needed.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED, at least five years of painting experience, and a valid driver's license. You must be able to work at heights above 20 feet, lift 50 lbs, and respond to emergency calls.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 5 years painting experience preferred, with use of sprayers.
• Knowledge of materials commonly used in painting and finishes.
• Ability to operate all painting tools and maintain them.
• OSHA safety awareness and protection requirements.
• Ability to work at heights greater than 20 feet and lift 50 lbs.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to use own vehicle.
• Emergency call-out availability and ability to work under stress.
• Excellent attendance and work record.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute painting work; estimate time and materials.
• Determine materials list and tools needed for tasks.
• Repair and paint damaged sheetrock walls and ceilings as needed.
• Apply all types of paints and finishes.
• Identify possible lead-containing materials.
• Complete jobs in a timely and professional manner to supervisor standards.
• Report to Facilities at shift start and end for sign-in/out.
• Perform other related work as assigned.
• Maintain paints and supplies neatly.
