Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of experience in construction, repair, and maintenance of sheet metal fixtures, fittings, and appliances.
• Applicants must possess a valid New Jersey driver's license only if vehicle operation is necessary to perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal products and equipment per job order or blueprints.
• Select gauge and type of sheet metal according to product and knowledge of material.
• Locate and mark dimensions on metal sheets.
• Set up and operate fabricating machines (shears, brakes, bending rolls, punch and drill presses).
• Shape metal using hammers over anvils or forms.
• Operate soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts.
• Smooth seams and burrs with files or grinders.
• Install assemblies at plant or site per blueprints using hand and power tools.
• Inspect assemblies for conformance with specifications using calipers, scales, and micrometers.
• Construct and maintain ventilators, air ducts, ducts, gutters, and related metal structures.
• Develop patterns using parallel, radial, or triangulation methods.
• Join pieces using welding, riveting, or other methods and ensure joints are secure.
• Read and interpret sketches, blueprints, and specifications; perform time and materials estimates.
• Keep records of work performed and materials used; may train helpers.
