Job summary

Indiana University Health in Bloomington is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to join our bedside care team. This part-time night position involves two 12-hour shifts per week, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with every third weekend and holiday rotation.

The PCA provides compassionate care, assists with meals, mobility, baths, and linen changes, and supports the bedside RN by obtaining vital signs and reporting changes. A commitment to safety, infection control, and strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Provide bedside care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities promptly.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts and alarms.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Follow infection control and aseptic techniques.
• Manage a high workload and prioritize tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meals, baths, and linen changes for patients.
• Encourage patient mobility and walking when appropriate.
• Support the bedside RN and report changes in condition promptly.
• Maintain patient safety and comfort at all times.
