Job summary

IU Health in Muncie, IN is hiring a Part-Time Patient Care Technician (PCA) to deliver compassionate, patient-centered support at the bedside. You will assist with meals, mobility, baths, linen changes, and comfort, while ensuring safety through proper use of gait belts and alarms.

The PCA collaborates with the bedside RN to monitor vital signs, report changes, and help maintain a clean, respectful environment.

Qualifications

• Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or completion of IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate patient care across developmental levels.
• Knowledge of procedures, equipment, and software related to patient care activities for non-licensed roles.
• Infection control principles and aseptic technique knowledge.
• Ability to read and perform basic math; organize tasks and manage workload under time pressure.
• Ability to maintain concentration amid interruptions and noise in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care and patient comfort, including helping with meals, bathing, and linen changes.
• Assist with patient safety using gait belts and alarms; remain within arm's reach during movement.
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to the RN or charge nurse.
• Support the care team to ensure timely and compassionate patient experiences.
