Job summary

Allegheny Health Network in Wexford, PA seeks a Nurse Assistant/Patient Care Technician I for night shifts on 5S Med/Surg. You will assist the RN in caring for stable and acutely ill patients, perform basic nursing procedures, and support admissions, discharges and transfers.

Requires a High School Diploma or GED, ability to read/write, basic math, and computer skills; must complete two weeks of training. CPR certification and background clearances are required; ASN/BSN students are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Must be able to attend 2 weeks of training.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities such as activities of daily living, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake and output, meal assistance, height and weight, blood glucose testing/monitoring, point of care testing, bladder scanning, transporting of patients and their medical record, documentation of O2, early mobilization and ambulation protocols, assistance with exam, treatments and procedures.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives and maintains a clean, safe environment.
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I&O, specimens and other treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Participates in unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
