Job summary

THOM Thomas Hospitals is seeking a patient care assistant to provide nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will participate in routine tasks to support high-quality patient care and collaborate with licensed medical staff.

Responsibilities include observing and reporting changes, assisting in admissions/discharges, recording vitals, and helping with hygiene and comfort.

• Communication with staff and patients is essential.
• Ability to adapt to changing clinical environments.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse.
• Assists the RN with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records vital signs and assists with hygiene and patient comfort; tracks oral intake and outputs.
• Assists in specimen collection and other patient activities.
• Supports infection control by maintaining a clean, safe environment.
• Reports equipment repairs to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepares patients for examinations per departmental procedures.
• Communicates nutrition issues to the RN when needed.
• Assists department with administrative tasks and answers call bells.
