Job summary

THOM Thomas Hospitals is seeking a dedicated nursing assistant to support licensed staff in providing high-quality patient care. The role involves assisting with admissions, transfers, discharges and routine patient care under RN supervision, while maintaining safety and a clean environment.

You will help monitor vital signs, support hygiene and comfort, and communicate patient needs to the nursing team. This position requires flexibility, teamwork, and compliance with care standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports patient concerns/changes to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assists the RN with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records vital signs and assists with personal hygiene and comfort measures.
• Records oral intake and outputs (temperature, blood pressure and other monitoring).
• Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment to prevent infections and ensure safety.
• Reports equipment repairs to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicates nutrition-related issues to the RN and supports dietary changes.
• Supports department administrative tasks and answers patient call bells.
