Job summary

MultiCare Health System seeks a Patient Access Technician to welcome patients at one of our Off-Campus Emergency Departments in Washington. The role collaborates with financial and clinical teams to create an optimal patient experience and coordinate admissions and registrations.

Responsibilities include accurate admissions, bed assignments, pre-admissions, and collecting demographic, insurance, and payer information; plus resolving discrepancies and guiding eligibility for financial assistance

Qualifications

• Graduate of health vocational program such as patient access, medical assistance, medical billing and insurance or medical general, required
• One year of admitting, billing, registration or customer service experience may be considered in lieu of education

Responsibilities

• You will assure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to organization policy and procedures and regulatory requirements
• You will obtain inpatient bed assignments and processes inpatient admission, to include arm banding, addressograph plate, and completion of necessary forms
• You will pre-admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatients and ambulatory patients to facilitate a smooth and speedy admission/registration process
• You will obtain direct admit information and enter a reservation in the computer system in order to notify other areas
• You will complete comprehensive bedside or telephone interviews with patient, relative, or their representative to obtain pertinent demographic insurance and/or third party liability information
• You will perform eligibility verification and resolves any discrepancies, determine need for financial assistance recommendation and application, referring to the Financial Counselor where necessary
