Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Patient Registration Specialist for the Night shift (7pm-5:30am), 40 hours per week. The role focuses on accurate data entry, demographic and insurance verification, and collaboration with patients and insurers to resolve issues.

The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic healthcare environment. Weekend and holiday coverage may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Customer service experience with good attendance and punctuality.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• Knowledge of health plans preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Obtain/verify patient demographics and insurance data per guidelines and enter into the electronic health record.
• Verify insurance eligibility to ensure active coverage for date of service.
• Identify and resolve insurance discrepancies to prevent claim issues.
• Communicate with patients and internal/external customers to resolve issues.
• Input accurate information into systems with high data integrity.
• Collaborate with other departments and providers as needed.
• Attend operational meetings and participate in ongoing process improvements.
• May perform scheduling, check-in, prescreening, or signatures per location requirements.
