Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Representative to greet and register patients, answer calls, schedule appointments and help maintain medical charts. The role requires strong customer service, accurate data collection, and coordination with clinical staff.

Education includes a high school diploma or equivalent; an Associate’s degree is preferred. CPR certification may be required and training shifts occur during evenings to early mornings.

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients, answer phone calls, schedule appointments and pull/ file medical charts when indicated.
• Ensure accurate patient demographics, insurance and physician information.
• Screen data for insurance eligibility and pre-certification requirements, explain next steps to customers.
• Assist in identifying self-pay patients and refer to financial assistance when applicable.
• Maintain open communication with departments and clinical staff involved in Patient Access.
• Assist in shadowing/precepting new employees.
