Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a part-time Observer on the Staffing Office Float Pool at Grosse Pointe Hospital. You will work 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., 0.4 weekly hours, in a night shift capacity, under RN guidance, performing patient observation, basic care, and related clerical tasks on-site.

The role requires a high school diploma, BLS certification within 30 days, and strong communication skills to ensure accurate documentation and safe patient handling.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Current CAN certification preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
• Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge is preferred.
• Ability to move or lift patients and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.
• Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation.
• Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
• Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.
