Job summary

Merit Health Wesley in Mississippi seeks a Medical Technologist I to perform routine and high complexity lab tests on blood and body fluids under supervision. You will ensure accurate results by following quality control protocols, maintaining instruments, and supporting regulatory compliance.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Medical Technology or related field and adherence to safety standards. You may assist with phlebotomy and contribute to staff training as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field is required.
• Passing score on CLT Proficiency examination approved by HHS is required.
• 0-2 years acute care experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs moderate and high complexity laboratory tests accurately and efficiently, with timely reporting and documentation.
• Adheres to quality control procedures and analyzes data to ensure accuracy.
• Conducts instrument checks, maintenance, and preventative care according to policies.
• Troubleshoots instrument malfunctions and notifies appropriate personnel or manufacturers as needed.
• Ensures compliance with safety regulations and Laboratory Safety Plan.
• Communicates results and issues with peers and supervisors; supports data collection for accreditation.
• Assists with phlebotomy duties and data collection as needed to support patient care.
• Collaborates with team to complete shift duties and department responsibilities.
• Maintains regular attendance and adherence to policies.
