Job summary

Merit Health Wesley is seeking a Medical Technologist I to perform routine and high complexity laboratory tests on blood and body fluids. This role ensures accurate results by following quality control protocols and maintaining instruments, with duties including phlebotomy and data collection for regulatory compliance.

The position supports patient care, teaches new staff, and collaborates with the team to complete shift duties efficiently. A 7 on/7 off night schedule is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field required.
• Passing score on the Clinical Laboratory Technology Proficiency examination approved by HHS (HEW) required.
• 0-2 years of acute care experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs moderate and high complexity lab tests accurately and efficiently.
• Maintains quality control procedures and documentation.
• Performs instrument function checks and preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoots instrument malfunctions and notifies appropriate personnel.
• Adheres to safety regulations and uses PPE.
• Communicates test results and equipment issues to staff and supervisors.
