Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Current RN License in New York.
• BCLS, ACLS, PALS and specific dept certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments based on interview, examination, observation, and records.
• Ensure progress notes and care plans reflect patient status.
• Plan discharge consistent with patient status and inter-departmental communication.
• Educate patients according to their learning needs and readiness.
• Support orientation of new staff as a preceptor.
• Serve as a professional role model and mentor for students and volunteers.
• Organize patient care assignments by need and staff skill level.
• Communicate patient conditions requiring intervention to leadership.
• Contribute to development of other staff members.
• Document collaborative efforts meeting patient and unit needs.
