Qualifications

• BSN required; ADN acceptable if matriculated in BSN program and graduation within the year.
• 1+ year of nursing experience required.
• Current RN License in New York
• BCLS certification required
• ACLS and PALS certifications required for specific departments; NRP certificate for specific departments

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments based on interviews, examinations, observations, and record reviews.
• Ensure patient progress is documented in progress notes and revised care plans.
• Plan discharges consistent with patient status and facilitate inter-departmental communication.
• Communicate information to patients based on their level of awareness and readiness to learn.
• Support the orientation of new staff members by providing feedback and acting as a preceptor.
• Function as a professional role model and mentor for students and volunteers.
• Assign patient care reflecting awareness of patient needs and personnel skill levels.
• Organize care provision to meet priority needs of patients and the unit.
• Communicate patient conditions requiring additional intervention to leadership.
• Participate in the development of other staff members.
