Job summary

Mount Sinai West is seeking a Staff Nurse - Med/Surg (General) for a part-time night shift (30 hours) from 7pm to 7:30am, with every other weekend. You will assess, plan, and intervene for assigned patients, provide health teaching, and participate in discharge planning.

Collaborating with the care team, you’ll promote professional nursing practice and patient-centered care. The role requires a BSN (or ADN with BSN progression), active RN licensure, and specialized certifications (NRP, ACLS,

Qualifications

• BSN degree required or equivalent.
• RN licensure with CNO approval.
• Med/Surg experience preferred, BSN program entrants may qualify.
• NRP, ACLS, BCLS and PALS certifications required or preferred depending on department.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments based on interview, exam, and records review.
• Document progress notes and revised care plans.
• Plan and coordinate discharge planning.
• Educate patients and families according to learning needs.
• Mentor new staff and support team education.
• Coordinate care across disciplines to meet patient needs.
• Assign care based on patient priority and staff capabilities.
• Communicate patient conditions and unit needs to leadership.
• Support staff development and performance appraisal.
• Ensure timely and accurate nursing documentation.
