XPO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Freight Operations Supervisor for the night shift in Saint Louis, MO. You will lead and supervise all freight operations, develop procedures, assign workloads, and ensure timely, damage-free delivery while controlling costs.

The role requires 2+ years in related warehousing or logistics, LTL knowledge, and the ability to work varied shifts. Preferred candidates have supervisory experience and a bachelor’s in logistics.

Qualifications

• 2 years of related work experience in warehouse, distribution, supply chain, transportation or similar environment.
• Knowledge of the LTL industry, hazardous materials regulations and DOT rules and regulations.
• Available to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends.
• Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Distribution or Logistics, or 4 years of related work or military experience.
• 2 years of supervisory experience.
• LTL industry experience.
• Strong leadership, communication and administrative skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations.
• Develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet evolving department demands.
• Evaluate, manage, assign and supervise workloads and tasks.
• Supervise hourly staff across operations and act as primary contact for workplace concerns.
• Ensure production goals are met by managing tonnage, payroll and other admin functions.
• Plan hourly employee schedules to meet daily operations goals and reduce costs.
• Enforce all company, FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC and DOT policies and laws.
• Implement policies and ensure compliance to optimize network performance.
• Ensure customer freight is processed, handled, loaded and delivered timely and damage-free.
• Coach and develop employees including new hire evaluations and corrective actions.
• Direct a team to meet or exceed productivity goals.
• Recommend hiring, suspension and termination actions.
• Develop and present action plans to improve load average and model compliance.
• Participate in safety and engagement committees.
• Train employees on safety rules and processes.
• Maintain organization within the shift to ensure safety and productivity.
• Conduct daily staff meetings and communicate policies and revisions.
• Inspect tools and equipment for safe operation and correct issues.
• Provide guidance for operational improvements within the shift and service center.
• Champion XPO values and hold team to high standards.
• Minimize shipment rehandle by prioritizing direct loading and sector loading.
