Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, and move freight in a dock environment. You will use forklifts and other MHE, maintaining accuracy in documentation and leveraging handheld scanners.

The role requires 3+ years of dock experience, forklift certification, and strong English communication. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 2 AM–10 AM; compensation includes $22.00 per hour plus a $2.00 shift premium.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure required.
• 3+ years of dock/warehouse experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to recognize numbers, labels, barcodes, and freight markings accurately.
• Willingness to learn basic computer systems and handheld scanners.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and trailers.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading and unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues to supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized dock environment.
• Work assigned schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
