Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking an Emergency Care Technician for night shifts in the Emergency Department. The role involves providing basic nursing care, recording vitals, and supporting patient safety under the supervision of the ED team.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, active CNA certification or enrollment in a health-science program, and current BLS/CPR. Previous clinical experience in acute or extended care is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current CNA certification or enrollment in a health science program with nursing fundamentals and/or clinical rotation.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and patient confidentiality preferred.
• Current BLS/CPR provider required.

Responsibilities

• Record vital signs and measurements accurately.
• Assist with patient hygiene and basic nursing tasks.
• Safely transfer and reposition patients and use safety devices.
• Gather lab specimens and assist with specimen processing.
• Operate and monitor ED equipment under RN/MD supervision.
