Job summary

IGH L Inc. is hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in Middle Island, NY. The DSP will model respectful interaction and provide hands-on ADL assistance to developmentally disabled individuals, following OPWDD guidelines and IGHL policies.

The position emphasizes medication administration, supervision during recreation, and accurate documentation, with opportunities for ongoing training and state-certification maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid NYS Driver’s license required.
• SCIP and Adult CPR certification required per IGHL policy.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., several times per hour.
• Regular work days, including holidays, are expected.

Responsibilities

• Administers medication per OPWDD AMAP certification.
• Uses proactive approaches to encourage choice making and safety.
• Supervises self-care activities and assists with ADLs as needed.
• Maintains documentation in logs for nursing, medication, behavior and first aid.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings and participates in program activities.
