Job summary

Seven Counties Services in Louisville is seeking a full-time, third-shift crisis intervention counselor to provide telephone-based crisis and suicide intervention to callers in emergency situations. You will assess needs, document interventions, and coordinate with community resources to meet client needs.

You also will supervise volunteers, conduct trainings, participate in team meetings, and help communities affected by suicide through outreach and education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, Human Services, or a related field of study.
• OR High School diploma or GED with completion of AAS/Lifeline 50 hours of Crisis Intervention/Suicide Prevention training and six months of volunteer time with Seven Counties Services after completion of training.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis and suicide intervention counseling over the telephone for emergency/crisis callers.
• Document and maintain accurate records of all telephone interventions during the shift.
• Review daily logs and client records to ensure accurate information recording and maintenance.
• Supervise and monitor volunteers to ensure quality crisis assistance and documentation.
• Provide crisis intervention training and consultation to counselors, volunteers, other service providers, and community groups.
• Attend staff and team meetings and share information on procedures for crisis counselors and services.
• Provide crisis intervention to communities traumatized by suicide as assigned.
