Job summary

YWCA South Hampton Roads is seeking a Crisis Services Specialist to provide crisis intervention counseling and advocacy for clients in a 10pm–6am shift. Under general supervision, you will support survivors of sexual and domestic violence, maintain confidential records, and contribute to grant reporting.

A background in trauma-informed care is preferred. Ideal candidates have significant education in human services and a passion for eliminating racism and empowering women.

Qualifications

  • 60 hours of higher education in human services required; Bachelor’s degree in social work, criminal justice or related field preferred.
  • Direct service experience working with clients affected by trauma, sexual violence and domestic violence is preferred.
  • Must complete training programs and a successful background check.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to crisis accompaniment requests using the SART model protocol.
  • Provide in-person and telephone crisis intervention counseling and advocacy.
  • Maintain client records in electronic case management and data systems.
  • Collect data for grant reporting.
  • Deliver in-service trainings for volunteers and staff.
  • Pursue ongoing training in interpersonal violence and trauma-informed care.
  • Attend staff meetings and case reviews.
