Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals seeks a Nurse Aide to perform direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, assisting with daily living activities and basic clinical tasks.

The role requires a high school diploma, BLS/First Aid certification within 30 days, and prior patient care experience is preferred. The position is night shift, non-exempt, 24 hours per week, based in Morgantown, WV.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in direct patient care by providing basic physical care to promote patient comfort as directed by the Registered Nurse.
• Assists all assigned patients with activities of daily living according to need in a timely manner including making all assigned beds.
• Safely transports patients to tests/procedures and escorts patients for discharge.
• Transports specimens and items throughout the facility.
• Performs routine phlebotomy services where permitted by management.
• Monitors vital signs and reports changes to RN.
• Provides respiratory support setup for oxygen administration.
• Observes and reports patient concerns to RN immediately.
• Prepares patients for examinations and assists with procedures.
• Assists physicians and RNs with examinations and procedures.
• Assists with basic rehab/Physical Therapy activities.
• Maintains infection control and safety in the unit.
• Communicates effectively with RN regarding nutrition issues.
