Job summary

West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a patient care assistant to support registered nurses in delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The role involves assisting with daily living activities, monitoring vitals, transporting patients, and supporting clinical teams across departments. Prior healthcare exposure is preferred, and safety protocols must be followed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in direct patient care and basic physical care as directed by the RN.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and bed-making.
• Safely transport patients and specimens and escort patients for discharge.
• Perform routine phlebotomy and glucose monitoring as assigned.
• Record vital signs and inputs/outputs and assist with examinations.
