Job summary

Regional One Health in Memphis, TN is seeking an experienced registered nurse to serve as charge nurse on 5C2 Med Surg during night shifts. You will coordinate, supervise and deliver direct patient care, assigning tasks based on acuity and unit policies.

The role requires RN licensure, BLS/CPR, and at least one year of clinical experience, with preferred prior charge nurse exposure. You will advocate for patient safety, participate in staff development, and ensure accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved nursing school/program.
• Additional training/certification may be required in area of specialization.
• Qualified by education, training or experience to work with the school age, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patient population as specialty assignment dictates.
• Registered nurse licensure to work in state of TN.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Minimum 1 year experience clinical experience.
• At least 1 year experience charge nurse experience Preferred

Responsibilities

• Serves as charge nurse and assists in supervision of patient care by coordinating shift activities and assigning duties based on patient acuity.
• Ensures continuity of patient care by planning staff assignments and evaluating outcomes within the unit.
• Assesses patient conditions; conducts nursing rounds and referrals to other services as needed.
• Develops and reviews plans for safe nursing care.
• Acts as unit liaison and resource nurse-in-charge, coordinating with staff and physicians.
• Maintains safety and control of patients, employees and visitors; investigates incidents.
• Performs duties of Staff Nurse and other nursing personnel as needed.
• Makes daily staffing adjustments and assigns tasks according to patient acuity; oversees nursing staff and ensures policy compliance.
• Oversees delivery of care, reviews observations and nursing interpretations of patient data.
• Coordinates with manager/educator for staff orientation and training of students.
• Verifies nursing tasks and treatments are documented in the medical record.
• Applies fiscal management and ensures appropriate use of resources.
• Communicates policies and procedures to staff, patients and families.
• Handles inquiries and resolves issues to maintain smooth unit operations.
• Provides patient/family education and discharge instructions.
• Maintains and documents patient records and supports continuity of care.
