Job summary

Nemours is seeking a unit clerk to join our NICU team. The position is full-time, nights, with weekend and holiday requirements.

The clerk will support the nursing staff by assisting with general activities of the patient care unit and by ensuring smooth communication of patient care information within the department and across the hospital. Key responsibilities include front desk coverage, relaying information, using information systems, updating the unit board, and assisting with daily patient

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum of one year experience in a health care setting preferred.
• Medical terminology training preferred.
• Previous clerical experience in health care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Front desk coverage for the patient care center as needed, including answering phones, greeting patients and routing reports.
• Deliver reports, supplies and messages to patient areas or hospital locations.
• Relate information accurately from physicians, nurses, lab personnel and others.
• Use information systems for patient care and enter written orders into the computer.
• Maintain the unit board and organize the work area for efficiency.
• Communicate openly with the patient care team about unit needs and patient care details.
• Assist with activities of daily life as directed and ensure adequate stock of equipment and supplies.
• Participate in quality improvement programs and attend unit meetings.
• Care for patients across all ages in the NICU setting.

Skills

Minimum of one year experience

American Heart Association BLS cert

Education

High School Diploma

Medical terminology training preferred
