Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. This part-time, night-shift role offers hands-on patient care in a Level III NICU with a multidisciplinary team.

You will monitor vital signs, assist with daily living activities, document data, and support the care team to deliver compassionate, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• BLS CPR Certification through American Heart Association.
• At least one year of patient care experience preferred; CNA/PCT training valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, age-appropriate patient care, assisting with activities of daily living, mobility, elimination, and personal care while promoting patient dignity and safety.
• Monitored and accurately documented vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other physiological parameters; promptly reported significant changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
• Assisted with treatments, procedures, dressing changes, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and physician examinations in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Provided one-to-one patient observation as needed, recognized changes in patient condition or safety concerns, and responded appropriately to emergency situations.
• Collaborated effectively with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members while maintaining clear communication, accurate documentation, and patient-centered care.
