Job summary

Baystate Health seeks a Patient Care Technician to join the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. The role involves hands-on, age-appropriate care, one-to-one observation, and collaboration with nurses and physicians to ensure high-quality, compassionate patient care.

The position offers day shifts, 36 hours per week, with every-other weekend work, within a supportive team in a Level III NICU setting that cares for newborns and families across Baystate

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• BLS CPR Certification through American Heart Association.
• At least one year of patient care experience.
• PCT training or CNA training.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, age-appropriate patient care, assisting with activities of daily living, mobility, elimination, and personal care while promoting patient dignity and safety.
• Monitored and accurately documented vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other physiological parameters; promptly reported significant changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
• Assisted with treatments, procedures, dressing changes, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and physician examinations in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Provided one-to-one patient observation as needed, recognized changes in patient condition or safety concerns, and responded appropriately to emergency situations.
• Collaborated effectively with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members while maintaining clear communication, accurate documentation, and patient-centered care.

Skills
